Islands, “Wave Forms”

Not to make this Mister Heavenly day or anything, but we just got word of the latest Islands LP right after posting about Man Man’s new record. (The frontmen of both bands share the spotlight in Mister Heavenly.) Here’s the main difference between the two efforts, though: While Man Man’s “Head On” single keeps its head up, Nick Thorburn insists Ski Mask “is really about being angry. For better or worse, this record kind of sums up my experience thus far with being in a band. Like the third act of a movie—just after it seems like all hope is lost, that’s when the big breakthrough moment happens. For Islands, this is us waiting for the breakthrough moment.”

Feel the xylophone-smacking, synth-caressing burn of “Wave Forms” down below, and look out for the rest of Ski Mask on September 17th through Thornburn’s new Manqué imprint…
