The Reason(s) We Can’t Stop Listening: Maybe we’re in the minority here, but the latent hardcore kid in us loved Wes Eisold’s last band, Some Girls. And the fact that the singer/multi-instrumentalist/writer somehow switched from screeching punk suites to the morose, synth-spliced melancholia of Cold Cave isn’t just admirable; it’s fucking brilliant. Simply put, Love Comes Close—the band’s first proper LP after a string of limited singles and the Cremations collection—is what we’d like playing at the after-party of our funeral.
RIYL: Listening to Unknown Pleasures at least once a week; dancing with yourself (literally, not in the Billy Idol sense); waves of noise that are welcome, not irritating
