TEST PRESSING: Download a Digital Version of Holy Ghost!’s Limited Mixtape and Their Remix of Van She’s ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ Cover

One of the reasons Holy Ghost! still haven’t released a proper record is their endless stream of remix requests, from Moby to MGMT to Phoenix. To put their growing cut-and-paste resume in perspective, the New York duo recently dubbed a highly-limited mixtape with drops from such friends and label mates as James Murphy, A-Trak and Moby. The cassette version flew off Turntable Lab’s virtual shelves within days, but a high-quality digital version is now available for free through DFA’s site. We’ve uploaded it for you below (right click to download), along with a full tracklisting and a bonus disco ball edit of Van She’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” cover.

As for where Holy Ghost!’s at with their long-awaited LP, they’re currently mixing the effort for an early 2010 release.

Sorry to break it to you, blogosphere, but we just don’t believe in lists anymore. They’re just so arbitrary, and a couple mouse clicks away from being obsolete, you know?

That’s why we decided to give you a completely random rundown of our favorite ‘09 releases—because it’s not as predictable or pointless as an argument over “who’s No. 1 this year, Dirty Projectors or Animal Collective?” Be sure to watch out for a second set of s/t-endorsed records before the clock strikes 12 on Thursday night.

Flying Lotus Reveals Details of New ‘Cosmogramma’ Disc, Unleashes a Decade of Unreleased Music Alongside The Gaslamp Killer

Flying Lotus has set April 20 as the release date of his third full-length record. Details are nearly nonexistent at the moment, although we do know this much: it’s called Cosmogramma, and is influenced by a lot of this stuff. Or at the very least, bits of drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep, as witnessed at Warp’s anniversary show.

In an effort to close the first chapter of his career, L.A.’s most promising producer recently asked The Gaslamp Killer to mix a decade of unreleased FlyLo material. The results are available as a high-quality download after the jump…

TEST PRESSING: Download DJ Kaos’ Christmas Tape and a ‘F*ck Krautrock’ Mix From Black To Comm

Black To Comm

Black To Comm

Since it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and what not, self-titled figured we’d share a freshly-uploaded holiday mix from DJ Kaos. It arrives via Italians Do It Better and Kaos’ rather ridiculous Brainburger Burgerbrain alias. You can cop the two-sided ‘cassette’ after the jump, along with a killer “F*ck Krautrock” set—an iPod stuffer, if you will—from Black To Comm, one of 2009’s most promising underground artists.
