While Joe Goddard will soon be busy pushing Hot Chip’s new album, we can’t stress just how crucial his 2 Bears side project is. A collaboration with his Greco-Roman DJ partner Raf Daddy (a.k.a. Raphael Rundell), it sounds like it was beamed in from a Bay Area dance floor—bursting at the grooves with sweat, steam and bad decisions. To get a better idea of the record’s house-heavy, techno-tinged roots, check out their “Whatever the Weather” mix below (featuring Armand Van Helden, Factory Floor, Henrik Schwarz, Gino Soccio and many more), alongside a radio edit of the pair’s “Work” single…

What’s with all of the corporate sponsored videos today? Not that we have a problem with such a thing; it’s comforting to see a record as crushing as the new Cloud Nothings LP (Attack On Memory, available tomorrow through Carpark Records) get a video that’s as vicious as the one above. (Thanks Urban Outfitters!) Grab “No Future, No Past” in MP3 form below…
Breton have released a free EP featuring four new tracks and a live show staple (the stuttering breaks and dovetailing strings of “The Well”) that originally appeared on the group’s Sharing Notes record. Originally founded as a film collective, Breton quickly took on a second life as a sample-driven, art-damaged pop group caught somewhere between British bass music (Untold’s always on-point Hemlock imprint released their Counter Balance EP a couple years back), dusty mixtapes and Tom Vek. (The fact that Breton remixed Vek and they’ve toured together makes perfect sense.)
While Breton’s debut album (the FatCat-endorsed Other People’s Problems) won’t drop until April 3rd, we’ve got their Blanket Rule EP below—it crashed their servers this morning—right alongside some early 2012 tour dates, more streaming music and a killer video…
