Deepchord Co-Founder Mike Schommer Breaks Silence With Exclusive Mix, New 12”

Mike Schommer

Having disappeared from the public eye for the past 15 years, Deepchord co-founder Mike Schommer wastes no time regaining his foothold in the experimental techno scene on the Anamnesis 12″ that drops on Mosaic early next month. (Damn vinyl plant delays!) If anything, the Detroit producer picks right up where he left off more than a decade ago, riding a subtle-but-steady beat and light, halogen-lit hooks off into the sunset.

With that in mind, we asked Schommer to cut an exclusive DJ set for our Needle Exchange series. Here’s what he had to say about it, followed by lots of dust-clearing listens from the early Deepchord days:

I wanted to create a deep and sensuous non-4/4 mix that affected the senses more than the intellect. Something to listen to with a coffee in one hand and a paintbrush in the other.
