NEEDLE EXCHANGE 140: An Exclusive Mix By…Wanda Group

Much like the Juno Plus mix he cut last summer, the Needle Exchange entry Wanda Group passed our way isn’t a simple set of songs-he-likes-right-now. It’s a survey of the sounds that were passing through the producer’s head while making two recent/upcoming records: the Outer Alsatian EP, which is available now through Gold Panda’s Notown imprint, and A Slab About Being Held Captive, which is dropping through NNA Tapes on December 10th.

Here’s what Louis Johnstone had to say about the tone poem he calls “SIZE OF THE LARGE PAVED SQUARE OR HOW TO REMOVE SHIT”…

“THIS MIX IS MORE OF A NEW DIVE INTO WHAT AFTER OR DURING OR BEFORE MAKING ALL THESE RECORDS

MOST OF IT IS MADE FROM TINY USUAL SECTIONS OF TAPE RECORDINGS I MADE WHILE UP IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND VISITING THIS WOMAN I HAVE FELL IN LOVE WITH RECENTLY

I GUESS IT’S A WEIRD DRAWN OUT SOUND POEM

AND ALL THAT SOPPY SOPPY BLOOD AROUND THE BODY SHIT

LOOK AFTER YOURSELF

LOU”
