The latest signing to John Talabot’s Hivern Discs imprint broadens its home base from Barcelona, finding much satisfaction in the murk of Frankfurt duo INIT (a.k.a. Nadia D’Alò and Benedikt Frey). “Talking About Talking” melds lumbering bass lines with smoke-choked machinery, dead-eyed melodies and a stubborn beat, perfect for fans of Nicolas Jaar’s woozy solo work and textured ambient techno. While the pair’s debut LP—Hivern Disc’s first artist album—isn’t due out until later this spring, “Talking About Talking” will be available as part of a teaser EP on March 9th.
