“The project has always felt subtly magical, particularly charmed,” Pepi Gingsberg says of her new avant-pop alias N-A-R-C. “I had a vision and something to say, it was perhaps more ambitious than my means, both financially and technologically, but I felt through the power of ingenuity and a little (or a lot) of sweat we could make it work.”

The results speak for themselves on the singer/songwriter’s New Age Real Change EP, a co-production with Michael Beharie and her [INSCAPE] label partner Martin Crane. Stream it in full below along with a DJ Earl remix, details on an imminent release show in Ridgewood, Queens, and today’s #selftitledpremiere, which Glasser describes as follows:

I always listen first and foremost to vocals when I listen to pop music. When I got the stems for this song, I listened to the vocal alone a few times and suddenly was like “Eureka! This is a reggae song!” So I just followed the muse and ran with it. I wanted a kind of digital reggae groove that just served the vocal as much as possible because the song has a beautiful melody.
