Superchunk, Coliseum Cover the Misfits For Record Store Day 7”

Well, this is kinda unexpected/awesome: Superchunk and Coliseum have cut a couple of Misfits covers for a split Record Store Day 7”. Due out April 16, the single is limited to 1,500 copies and a co-release between Merge Records and Temporary Residence Ltd. As for who’s tackling what, Coliseum blew through “Bullet” during the demo sessions for their House With a Curse album and Superchunk first gave “Horror Business”–a song they premiered on the stage way back in 1997–away in MP3 form last Halloween.

Bringing the whole package home is cover art from Coliseum frontman Ryan Patterson (a tribute to the Misfits’ Three Hits From Hell sleeve) and three equal vinyl pressings of yellow with a black splatter, magenta with a black splatter, and standard issue black. Take a listen to both Misfits originals, Superchunk’s cover, and Coliseum’s stab at Danzig’s “Am I Demon” after the jump…
