While Blondes continue to crank out the final pieces in their duality-driven 12” series, we thought we’d share the Brooklyn duo’s dizzying Vice mix from a couple years back. Featuring everything from a Throbbing Gristle remix to a “Screwed Edit” of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Thomas Dolby, it’s as close as you’re gonna get to their rail-jumping creative process outside of actually hearing them DJ, like they will at Brooklyn Bowl this Friday…
We first told you about WhoMadeWho during our roundup of must-see acts at South By Southwest. In the months since, the Danish trio released their third disc (Knee Deep, a mini-album appetizer for a proper Kompakt LP) and drummer Tomas Barfod compiled the following exclusive mixtape for our Needle Exchange series. True to his claim that WhoMadeWho are not in fact “disco clowns,” it is thankfully free of the knucklehead electro hooks you might expect from someone who’s remixed Peaches and toured with Daft Punk…

Not to make today RVNG Day or anything, but we couldn’t help but notice one other new release on the label’s site this morning: Lover/Hater, the first in a series of limited Blondes 12-inches “that will deal in duality themes.” You can check out the sleeve of that March 15 single after the jump, along with a special mix that the Brooklyn duo cut for their upcoming tour…
RVNG has announced its first full-on reissue: a 30th anniversary look at the MiniMoog-driven solo debut of Harald Grosskopf. Best known as the beat-dropping backbone of Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus Schulze and Cosmic Jokers, Grosskopf delved into the deep end of the analog spectrum on Synthesist—a realm that’ll sound familiar to fans of such new-school space cadets as Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never.
Maybe that’s why RVNG also produced a Re-Syntheist CD of reinterpreted Grosskopf songs, including contributions from Blondes, Arp, Stellar Om Source, 0PN and seven others. The compilation is available alongside the vinyl version of Synthesist, with both records available separately on digital stores. Pre-order here now, and check out the full tracklisting and a free MP3 after the jump…
