NEEDLE EXCHANGE 054: An Exclusive Mix By … Stellar OM Source

Our latest Needle Exchange entry comes from Christelle Gualdi, the synth sculptor responsible for Stellar OM Source and its recent Trilogy Select record. The carefully curated collection is essential listening for anyone who’s ever imagined a re-cut Blade Runner, featuring an alternate score by James Ferraro, Emeralds, Laurel Halo, James Ferraro, and the Focus Group.

As you’re about to see, Gualdi could teach a course on this kind of material. In today’s case, the lesson would be the lingering influences of Kraut-rock drummer Harald Grosskopf (Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus Schulze, Cosmic Jokers). A solo artist in his own right, Grosskopf’s Synthesist debut gets a proper 30th anniversary pressing through RVNG today, complete with a bonus CD of remixes by Stellar OM Source, Blondes, Oneotrix Point Never, and more.

Check out more details here, and read on for a thorough run through of the Gualdi’s mix…

RVNG Recruit Blondes, JD Twitch, Oneohtrix Point Never and More For 30th Anniversary Harald Grosskopf Reissue

RVNG has announced its first full-on reissue: a 30th anniversary look at the MiniMoog-driven solo debut of Harald Grosskopf. Best known as the beat-dropping backbone of Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus Schulze and Cosmic Jokers, Grosskopf delved into the deep end of the analog spectrum on Synthesist—a realm that’ll sound familiar to fans of such new-school space cadets as Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never.

Maybe that’s why RVNG also produced a Re-Syntheist CD of reinterpreted Grosskopf songs, including contributions from Blondes, Arp, Stellar Om Source, 0PN and seven others. The compilation is available alongside the vinyl version of Synthesist, with both records available separately on digital stores. Pre-order here now, and check out the full tracklisting and a free MP3 after the jump…
