The first time we saw The Hussy rip their way through a rock show, the Madison band was supporting and backing Nobunny at a Brooklyn gig that peaked with Bobby Hussy setting his guitar on fire Hendrix-style. Only in this case, the vibe was a little more Atlanta’s Mess-Around than Monterey.
In the five years since that tour, Bobby and drummer/fellow singer Heather Hussy expanded their sonic palette with side projects (Proud Parents, Cave Curse, Fire Heads); cut a righteous garage-pop record; and hired Tyler Fassnacht (Fire Heads, Proud Parents, T.S. Foss) as their cleanup hitter.
This Friday’s Looming LP brings all of the above together with a wild ride that’s an absolute must for anyone who’s ever spent an afternoon cranking old King Tuff records and Jay Reatard’s entire oeuvre. “That was a fun song to write,” explains Heather. “I just used random words and phrases for the lyrics.”
“We filmed the video in the basement where Heather works with our friend Austin and his crew,” adds Bobby. “It was really cool setting it up and getting the shot right. It is one-take once the music actually starts after the ‘commercial’….”
