The Artist/Album: Luke Abbott, Holkham Drones (Border Community, 2010)
Our Review: Not quite a drone or dance record, Luke Abbott’s debut LP is a bleary-eyed collection of brightly hued beats and transcendent techno–the title track gives the Field a run for money in the chain-linked loops department–that’ll be familiar to anyone who’s ever wished Boards of Canada would lighten up a little. Or at the very least, make their way over to the dancefloor with their dignity intact and hope on the horizon.
