The Horrors’ Frontman Unveils Cat’s Eyes Project At the Vatican

As first reported on Pitchfork, Faris Badwan of the Horrors recently played a special Cat’s Eyes set at the St. Peter’s Basilica.  The church gig was arranged by Badwan’s new bandmate, opera singer/multi-instrumentalist Rachel Zeffira. She’s performed in the space before, and somehow convinced them to let the duo serenade the afternoon mass crowd and “seven high-ranking cardinals.” Unlike his early days with the Horrors–we once saw him toss a trash can at a SXSW crowd–Badwan behaved himself, guiding the proceedings with a subtle organ score and some not-so-merry melodies.
