SXSW SPOTLIGHT: Colourmusic @ Oklahoma Film & Music Commission Party, 3.19.09

Even the poles at Colourmusic shows match their jumpsuits.

The Artist: Freaky, Oklahoma-based psych-folk quintet creates walls of color-inspired reverb while wearing matching skirts.

Their Latest Release: f, monday, orange, february, venus, lunatic, 1 or 13 (World’s Fair, 2008)

The Set in a Few Sentences: Colourmusic are known for quirky/just-plain-bizarre live shows, and this bombastic late afternoon set was no exception. These guys clearly listened to a lot of Clouds Taste Metallic-era Flaming Lips in their Oklahoma State dorm rooms, but on stage they resemble a Manson Family limbo contest more than a bunch of dancing Santas.

And a Letter Grade: A
