Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks Announce Debut Album, North American Tour Dates

Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks—the Animal Collective side project featuring its de facto frontman and former members of Dirty Projectors (keyboardist/singer Angel Deradoorian) and Ponytail (drummer Jeremy Hyman)—revealed their debut album today. Due out April 8th through Domino, Enter the Slasher House is a self-proclaimed “escape from LA” album that started with Tare’s acoustic guitar lines and was fleshed out in a live “jazz power trio” format with very little overdubbing at The Lair.

While Tare says their songs “come from a place that’s not human,” the record is not rooted in horror soundtracks or badly dubbed VHS videos. As heard on the lead single “Little Fang,” it’s more of a lighthearted listen, sending Tare’s warbled melodies spiraling through the trio’s very own twilight zone. Have a listen below, right alongside a couple weeks of spring tour dates and the album’s cover art and complete tracklisting…
