What is this? That’s all we have to say about Nicolas Jaar‘s debut LP (Space Is Only Noise, available now through Circus Company) so far. After all, it isn’t a simple living room approach to dance music or sample-driven beats. It’s what happens when you grow up idolizing Ricardo Villalobos, Erik Satie, and underground hip-hop in equal measure. Which means it’s really, really weird in all the right ways.
We’ll share more of our thoughts once we let all the tracks sink in. For now, here are three wildly different mixes from the justifiably hyped producer, along with a free EP of edits (as presented by Wolf + Lamb and Jaar’s own Clown & Sunset imprint) that toys with everything from New Order to Nina Simone.
