PREMIERE: Chris Connelly, “Compatibility”

With a resume that’s dominated by such iconic industrial acts as Ministry, KMFDM and the Revolting Cocks, Chris Connelly seems like a perfect fit for the metal-centric roster of Relapse Records. His solo material doesn’t involve power electronics or spastic samples, though; it actually errs more on the side of David Bowie, driven by melodic power chords and synth lines that act as layers rather than lead instruments. To make things even stranger, Connelly is backed by current and former members of such underground metal acts as Nachtmystium, Wolves in the Throne Room and Minsk.
