The Set In a Few Sentences: While Jamie Stewart’s blind-mole-in-bobby socks routine broke the spell a bit–seriously, it’s as if the aptly-tortured singer didn’t open his eyes once the whole set–Deerhoof and Xiu Xiu delivered a faithful rendition of Unknown Pleasures early Sunday night, as peppered by the sucker punch percussion of Greg Saunier and the frothy feedback of Satomi Matsuzaki. The only thing lacking was more electronic effects from keyboardist Angela Seo, something we sorely missed on songs like the (normally) laser-guided “Insight.” Other than those minor details, it was a fine start to Brooklyn’s Pool Party season.
