Our Review: Infinitely more interesting than Kristina Lieberson’s previous gig (keyboardist for Here We Go Magic), TEEN delivered one of our favorite debuts of the year, an impeccably crafted take on what it means to make a girl group record in 2012. Meaning: the album’s refreshingly light on the Wall of Sound-isms, and heavy on the harmonies and post-millennial details (Motorik rhythms, cauterized chords, sleek/shiny synths) that help the Brooklyn group stand apart from the city’s crowded music scene.
