Samiyam Readies Limited Cassette of ‘Straight Forward Hip-Hop’

Stones Throw’s ongoing partnership with Matthewdavid’s Leaving Records imprint continues next Tuesday with a tape from Samiyam called Wish You Were Here. While the L.A. producer has kept himself busy in recent months with beats for Flying Lotus’ Captain Murphy alias and Earl Sweatshirt, he hasn’t dropped a proper solo release since 2011’s Sam Baker’s Album.

“I’m just trying to show where I’m coming from,” he says of the instrumental affair. “I’m not about futuristic spaceship beats, just straight forward hip-hop.”
