The first official leak from Laurel Halo’s latest album makes it sound like a logical extension of her Behind the Green Door EP—body music that also happens to hit you squarely in the brain. In the case of “Ainnome,” the producer upsets our equilibrium with a slightly queasy intro, sucking us all into a black hole that’s inhabited by steady bass throbs, Kubrick-ian chords, and the clickity-clack of hardware that seems to have taken on a mind of its own. HAL 9000 hooks fit for discerning dance floors, then.

‘Chance of Rain’ is due out October 28th through Hyperdub.
