Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra Return With ‘Bone-Rattling’ New Record

If you thought Efrim Menuck was going to slip back into the shadows after winning this year’s Polaris Music Prize and delivering the decade’s greatest acceptance speech, boy, were you wrong. The Godspeed You! Black Emperor co-founder is back at the helm of his other band, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, with a single LP takedown of complacence and apathy called Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything. Due out January 21st through Constellation, it’s the group’s first effort as a quintet, which is reflected in its airtight blend of “hardcore, blues, garage and dark metal influences that have nothing to do with anything so quaint as ‘post-rock’.”
