DOWNLOAD THIS NOW: Azealia Banks, “Jumanji” (Produced by Hudson Mohawke + Nick Hook)

Well this is reassuring: a new Azealia Banks track that’s produced by Hudson Mohawke and Nick Hook (see also: Cubic Zirconia and the live bands of El-P and Drop the Lime). Which pretty much proves the singer/rapper isn’t severing her underground ties now that Kanye and Karl (Lagerfield, that is) are up in her business.

Grab “Jumanji” in the above player and look out for her Fantastic mixtape this summer. In the meantime, we’ve got Banks’ first stateside cover story here.

Björk Announces Eight-Part ‘Biophilia’ Remixes Series, Featuring Hudson Mohawke, Death Grips, These New Puritans and More

Bjork - 'Biophilia' Remixes

If there’s one thing Björk’s always excelled at, it’s picking the right producers to work with in the studio and on the remix front. Our only complaint is how pricey the latter can get for her fans, what with all the limited, deluxe vinyl singles that are released around most of her records. Biophilia is no exception, as it’s set to be spun on its head with an eight-part series of remixes featuring the following contributors: 16-bit, Alva Noto, El Guincho, Hudson Mohawke, King Cannibal, These New Puritans, and the singer’s longtime remixer in residence, Matthew Herbert.

Up first: entries from Current Value (out now) and Death Grips (available April 30th), which can be streamed here and here.

DOWNLOAD THIS NOW: Battles’ FACT Mix, Featuring Unreleased Tracks From The Field, Hudson Mohawke and Gui Boratto

John Stanier of Battles - Live @ Pitchfork FestivalOne thing many people don’t realize about Battles drummer John Stanier—despite his stints powering the pistons of much more muscular bands like Helmet and the Mike Patton side project Tomahawk—is what a huge techno head he is. He’s so into the music, in fact, that we had him DJ a Battles/Black Dice after-party a few years ago, a task he pretty much owned for an entire hour.

As it turns out, Stanier is tight with the folks at Kompakt and was actually living in Germany the last time we checked, cutting a Cologne ‘supergroup’ record with the Field, Ada, Jörg Burger and a few other label staples in 2010. So it indeed makes sense that Stanier marked Battles’ new remix collection (Dross Glop) with a proper FACT mix this morning, one that includes a trio of unreleased Hudson Mohawke tracks and exclusives from Michael Mayer and Junior Boys. Grab it below, alongside the full tracklisting…

Ross Birchard is not your typical Glaswegian producer; he’s the Warp wunderkind known as Hudson Mohawke, as lauded in the underground and, most recently, in the upper echelons of mainstream hip-hop. (Thanks to Just Blaze, who we love as well.) His sound is comfortably contrasting, moving seamlessly between Jem-gilded expressionism and Timbaland-esque bravado, with the new Satin Panthers EP exemplifying how enigmatic his tracks are.

Astounding and inviting, we always look forward to what’s next with the man affectionately known as HudMo, so self-titled recently chatted with the producer about his sudden mainstream buzz, his affection towards mainstream music and what the near future has in store for him.

TEST PRESSING: Stream Hudson Mohawke’s Jamie Woon Remix, Which Sounds Like Justin Timberlake In All the Right Ways

We’re still trying to wrap our heads around tonight’s James Blake set—a promising NYC debut that didn’t raise our pulse level so much as confirm his rising star status—so what better way to continue that tradition of beat-driven R&B than a killer Jamie Woon remix by Hudson Mohawke? Songs like this make us think Woon will actually be bigger than Blake by year’s end, but we shall see. Either way, we’re pretty sure next week’s (Le) Poisson Rouge/Glasslands run will be the last chance you get to see Woon in a support slot or small venue.

Have a listen to “Lady Luck,” the post-Timberlake/Timbaland edition, after the jump, along with its original mix…
