Here’s a seemingly endless DJ set that’ll help you ease into the weekend: a five-parter from Prins Thomas, captured at Sur Bar in Kagoshima, Japan. Anyone want to help us decode all the rare disco records and locked grooves within?

So we stumbled upon some rather interesting news via Jonas Reinhardt‘s Soundcloud page the other week—aside from having a Not Not Fun album (Music For the Tactile Dome) on the way this spring, the Kraut-y collective recently tracked a 12” and double LP with one of space-disco’s leading cadets, Prins Thomas. Wondering what’s really up with all of these sudden releases, we went straight to the source: frontman Jesse Reiner, who can also be found dropping a synth-laced Needle Exchange set for us here.
Check out what he had to say—along with a free Not Not Fun MP3 and a streaming version of Reinhardt’s first Prins Thomas record—after the jump…

It’s been a while since we last issued a Buy It, Burn It, Skip It column—eight months to be exact, mostly because our associate editor (Aaron Richter) was busy relocating to our art department. Lame excuses aside, we couldn’t remain silent any longer; not with this blatant rip-off happening every week at Vanity Fair.
To be clear, Aaron came up with the Buy/Burn/Skip rating system while he was at Giant magazine, and we started filing our version of it a couple months before Graydon and his gray-haired minions “coincidentally” starting doing the same thing, albeit with one word change. So, yeah: Conde Nast, we’re watching you…

Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas
The last thing we want to do on a Friday is fuck with our iTunes. That’s why we’ve decided to start sharing our favorite mixes with you at the end of each week, everything from full-on dance sets to highly-conceptual mixtapes. This particular installment includes an epic BBC Essential Mix from Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas, a Kraut-rock comp from The Black Dog, a Pop Ambient survey from Popnoname, and a “Naked Fridays” soiree from Pink Skull, who’ll be playing (Le) Poisson Rouge tomorrow night.
Get into it…
