Bien Buena’s Riobamba and Uproot Andy Make Us a Latinx Club Mix

Of all the shows that have premiered on Red Bull Radio over the past year, Bien Buena has to be the one that makes us want to run up to the station’s proverbial DJ booth the most, looking for the answer to that age-old question: “track ID?!” Which makes sense; Riobamba (Apocalipsis, Discwoman) and Uproot Andy (Que Bajo) have been making sense of the Latinx club scene for years, slipping in choice sides of reggaetón, dembow, Latin trap, cumbia, baile funk, plena, and champeta every chance they get.

With that in mind, we asked the duo to drop a special DJ set for our Needle Exchange series. They cut quite an exclusive, too, an “uptempo Latinx club mix tracing migrations between Brazilian baile funk and Spanish-language iterations from DR and Panama from artists like Ceky Viciny, Tali Goya, Real Phantom, and Mr Fox. Setting a frenetic pace, the mixtape treads the line between dembow street anthems and underground mutations from Florentino, La Diabla, and Lima.” It arrives hot on the heels of their latest live episode, which airs tomorrow at 4 p.m. EST and features an interview with ÌFÉ founder Otura Mun.
