The Artist/Album: Pantha Du Prince, XI Versions of Black Noise (Rough Trade, April 19th)
The Details: Since he’s currently working on an audiovisual installation in Berlin, a dance piece in Paris, and a new live show “incorporating ambitious lighting and visual elements,” Pantha Du Prince has decided to deliver an 11-track collection of remixes as a stopgap release for the rest of the year. While the producer’s ‘Panda Bear song’ (“Stick To My Side”) was already released as a maxi-single featuring the handiwork of Four Tet, Lawrence, Walls, Carsten Jost, and Efdemin, the other half of this record is fairly new. That includes contributions from the king of dub techno (Basic Channel’s Moritz Von Oswald) and longtime Pantha fans Animal Collective.

RVNG has announced its first full-on reissue: a 30th anniversary look at the MiniMoog-driven solo debut of Harald Grosskopf. Best known as the beat-dropping backbone of Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus Schulze and Cosmic Jokers, Grosskopf delved into the deep end of the analog spectrum on Synthesist—a realm that’ll sound familiar to fans of such new-school space cadets as Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never.
Maybe that’s why RVNG also produced a Re-Syntheist CD of reinterpreted Grosskopf songs, including contributions from Blondes, Arp, Stellar Om Source, 0PN and seven others. The compilation is available alongside the vinyl version of Synthesist, with both records available separately on digital stores. Pre-order here now, and check out the full tracklisting and a free MP3 after the jump…
Here’s something we didn’t realize until tonight: Banjo or Freakout—the one man band who recently covered NDF’s stellar “Since We Last Met” single for DFA—is the other half of Walls, the Kompakt-endorsed duo who delivered one of 2010′s most satisfying astral plane albums.
Got all that? Good. We’ve already talked about Sam Willis’ two side projects (Allez-Allez, Snoretex), so here’s three songs from Alessio Natalizia’s alias, including the A-side of his new 7”, a minor-keyed cover from his freshly-uploaded Christmas album (free here for the first 1,000 listeners), and his moon walk spin on “Since We Last Met”…

Sam Willis, a.k.a. the half of Walls that’s also in Allez-Allez, has unveiled yet another side project. This one’s called Snoretex and recommended for fans of such synth cadets as Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never. Grab two free tracks below…

To celebrate the release of their new Gaberdine Remixes EP (available now on iTunes), we asked Walls to share a mix that’s as caught in the clouds as their music. Here it is—windswept selections from Tangerine Dream, Spacemen 3 and more—along with a commentary from Sam Willis (also of Allez-Allez).
So Nathan Fake wasn’t kidding when he turned in his club-ready “Long Mix” of the otherwise gossamer Walls song “Gaberdine.” Available as part of a new Kompakt EP on October 18, it’s joined by remixes from Infant, Shuffle Truffle and Radiant Dragon. Have a listen here…
