We’re not sure why they’re just releasing this now, but the Green Day cover above is the first in a series of clips featuring Florence + the Machine and Dev Hynes (Blood Orange, Lightspeed Champion) performing an intimate set at one of the Ace Hotel’s Coachella parties.
In semi-related news, Florence Welch has been forced to cancel her appearances at the Benicassim Festival on Thursday and the Optimus Alive this weekend due to a vocal injury. Taking to Twitter, she explained, “I cannot sing for a week…Seriously I felt something snap, it was very frightening.”

It all started with Dev and I talking over the phone about what the video could be, and then we sent each other some references. From there, I wrote up a proper treatment and went out to find the locations. (Dev plays basketball at those courts all the time.) We kept referencing videos like 2Pac’s “Brenda’s Got A Baby” and LL Cool J’s “I Need Love” because they are sentimental; but maybe also a little but funny, and the visual style is just incredible.
